Quick answer: Pick the product whose title matches the edition, platform and device count you need, add it to the cart, check out with a card or PayPal using an email address you check regularly, and within seconds you receive an email with the product key, the official Microsoft download link and activation steps. Install from that link, enter the key, and you are done. Every order is covered by a 180-day money-back guarantee.
Buying a software licence as a digital key is quick, but the one decision that matters is made before checkout: choosing the right edition. This walkthrough takes you through the whole process, from working out which product you need, to reading the product page, paying, finding the delivery email and activating, with the checks that avoid the common mistakes. It is written for a first order; returning customers can jump to the section they need.
Step 1: decide what you need
Three questions settle almost every purchase.
Which product? Windows (the operating system), Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the rest), a standalone app (Visio, Project, Access, a single Office app), Windows Server, or Visual Studio. The main menu is organised exactly this way: Microsoft Office, Windows, Office Apps and Windows Server.
Which edition? For Windows, Home for everyday use and Pro for BitLocker, Remote Desktop, Hyper-V and business features; see Windows 11 Home and Windows 11 Pro. For Office, Professional Plus for the full suite including Access, Home & Business for the five core apps on PC or Mac, Home without Outlook, and Standard LTSC for managed installations with security-only updates; Office 2024 Professional Plus is the most popular. Our guides to Windows editions and Office 2024 vs Microsoft 365 go deeper.
Which platform and how many devices? Office Professional Plus is Windows-only; Mac users need a “for Mac” or “PC or Mac” edition (the Office for Mac guide explains). Product titles state the device count: 1 PC, 5 PCs, 1 PC or Mac. Buy the count you need; a 5-PC licence costs far less than five single keys.
If you are still unsure, ask through the contact page before buying. A one-line question is quicker than an exchange.
Step 2: read the product page
Each product page tells you, near the top: the product name and version, the edition, the platform, the device count, the licence type (lifetime, one-time purchase), and the price. Below are the system requirements, what is included, the delivery method (email, instant) and the guarantee. The Guide, Specs and FAQ tabs answer the common questions for that product. Check three things before adding to cart: the edition matches what you decided in Step 1, the platform matches your computer, and the version is the one you want (2024 is current for Office; Office 2021, 2019 and 2016 are cheaper but out of support).
Step 3: add to cart and check out
Click Add to cart, then Checkout. You can check out as a guest or create an account; an account keeps every key visible under Orders permanently, which is useful when you reinstall years later. Enter your name, email address and billing country. Type the email carefully, because the key is sent to it; our guide on not receiving the key email exists mainly because of typos.
Choose a payment method: card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and most debit cards) or PayPal. Approve the bank’s verification prompt if one appears. If the payment is declined, our declined payments guide explains the usual causes; nothing is charged for a declined attempt.
Step 4: receive the key
Within seconds of payment, the delivery email arrives with the order number, the product, the 25-character key, the official Microsoft download link for that exact version and edition, and activation steps. The same details appear in your account under Orders. If the email is not in your inbox within a few minutes, check spam and the Orders page; our delivery guide describes the email in detail.
Step 5: download and install
Click the download link. For Windows it leads to Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool or ISO; for Office to the installer or the Office Deployment Tool; for Server to the ISO. Use that link rather than any installer you already have, because the installer must match the key’s version and edition. Our step-by-step installation guides cover Windows, Office, Windows Server and standalone apps.
Step 6: activate
Windows: Settings, System, Activation, Change product key, enter the key. Office: open Word, File, Account, Change Product Key, enter the key. Activation completes online in seconds. If it is refused, the cause is almost always an edition mismatch or an existing licence in the way, both fixable in minutes; if online activation refuses the request outright, telephone activation or our free Confirmation ID service completes it. Our guide to keys reported as used or blocked covers the cases.
What protects your order
Every licence is covered by the 180-day money-back guarantee: if a key cannot be activated and we cannot fix it, you receive a replacement or a full refund. Unactivated keys bought for the wrong product can be exchanged under the refund policy. Support answers every day, and the Help Center holds guides for every product. More than 10,000 customers have ordered, and the store holds a 4.6 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot.
Common first-order mistakes, and how to avoid them
- Buying Professional Plus for a Mac. Check the platform in the title. Mac editions are in the Office for Mac category.
- Buying a Home key for a PC that already runs Pro. Check Settings, System, About first. A Pro key upgrades Home; a Home key cannot downgrade Pro.
- Mistyping the email at checkout. Read it back before paying.
- Installing from an old installer. Use the link in the delivery email.
- Entering a Windows key in Office, or the reverse, when an order contains both. Each key is labelled by product in the email.
- Throwing away the delivery email. Keep it; it is your licence record. The Orders page is the backup.
Business and bulk orders
Small businesses buy from the same pages; the 5-PC listings such as Windows 11 Pro for 5 PCs and Office 2021 Professional Plus for 5 PCs are the usual choice, and invoices are available from the Orders page. For larger quantities or a mix of products, contact us before ordering and we confirm availability and the total.

After the purchase: three habits
Keep the delivery email in a folder you will find again. Note which machine each key is installed on, especially for 5-PC licences. And link your Windows licence to a Microsoft account from Settings, Accounts, Your info, so that a future reinstall or hardware change re-activates without the key. With those three habits, the licence you buy today is a two-minute job to reuse in five years.
Reading a product title
Our product titles are written to answer the three questions above at a glance. “Microsoft Office 2024 Professional Plus Product Key, Lifetime License, 1 PC” tells you the product (Office), the version (2024), the edition (Professional Plus), the licence type (lifetime, one-time purchase) and the device count (1 PC). “Microsoft Office 2021 Home & Business for Mac” tells you the platform. “Windows 11 Pro Product Key, 5 PCs” tells you the count. If a title does not answer one of the three questions for you, the product page’s first paragraph does, and if that is still unclear, ask us.
What happens to prices
Prices change with promotions and stock. The price shown on the product page at the moment you add it to the cart is the price you pay; there are no handling fees, no subscription and no renewal on any perpetual licence. Sale prices are shown with the regular price struck through. Signing up for the newsletter at the bottom of any page gives a discount code for a first order.
Returning customers
If you have ordered before, sign in and the checkout fills your details automatically. Previous keys stay on the Orders page, so a second licence for a new PC sits next to the first. Many customers buy a Windows licence first and add Office later; the two keys live side by side under Orders and each delivery email is kept separately. Nothing about an earlier order affects a later one, and the 180-day guarantee runs separately for each.
